Trail Report - (406)862-7669

Happy July 4th, Hikers and Bikers!

The Summit Trail is totally open. The trail is clear of snow, save a few shady spots in the trees. Trail projects are underway so use caution. There is an excavator and a couple of trail crews working on widening, flattening, and renovating switchbacks, so just keep your eyes peeled and give respect to those who build your playground.

Other trails are riding well, too. Here's what's open so far:
Around the Village:
Summit Trail
Dave's Dive
Dual Slalom
Tenderfoot
Badrock
Borealis
Skills Park
Bike Jumps at The Depot

Around The Base Lodge
Gopher
Gopher Too
Badger
Beaver
Cedar Bridge
Cedar View
Valley View
Pine View
Wolverine

Construction of the new downhill trail will begin in late July, or perhaps earlier if warm temperatures and rain continue.

Big News! We have just begun construction of a new beginner trail that loops at a nearly flat pitch from the upper village to the lift plaza. It should be ready in a couple of weeks, and we are excited about offering an easy ride for families that will also serve as a great uphill connection between the bottom of the lift and the village (waffle fries at Ed & Mully's!).

The Danny On is still a little snowy for the upper 1/3, but it's getting better fast with this sunshine. The snow makes it hard for us to properly sign the trail, but hundreds of hikers have blazed an easy-to-follow path through the snowfields, so come check it out and watch the fireworks from the summit.

If you're wondering what to ride right now, here are some suggestions –

For Advanced riders, take the summit trail down to the Skills Park. Play in there for a while, then take Dave’s Dive down to the Jumps at the Depot.

For Intermediate Riders, take the Summit Trail all the way down. On your second ride, take Home Again after the first 4 miles of the Summit Trail, and then Borealis back up to the Village.

For Beginner Riders, take Tenderfoot and Gopher to explore the mountain and get comfortable on your mountain bike before heading to more challenging terrain.

Disc Golf Update - The tones are being installed right now, and maps will be out sometime after that. Starting Friday the 4th, unofficial disc golf is signed and available to everyone. Just follow the bright orange arrows. Hole 1 starts just uphill from the Chalet. Check out the Google Earth file below for a really great map you can print out yourself before you come.

If you haven't tried out the awesomeness yet, it's time to check out the Google Earth placemark with all our summer trails and activities on our maps page.
